Tell DEP to stop overpumping our springs:
Just over 850 advocates wrote in using our advocacy system, and over 100 people attended a DEP workshop in person to express frustration with DEP's failure to protect our springs.
Wakulla Cave Gas Station:
Over 2,000 springs advocates used this system to send messages to the Wakulla County Commissioners, thank you! This was a VICTORY for Wakulla. The gas station decision was tabled and commissioners are looking into funding to put the land into conservation. read the full story on our blog.
Pre-emption of local fertilizer ordinances
Governor DeSantis signed the budget without a line-item veto of the pre-emption on local fertilizer ordinances. This means that beginning June 30, local governments will NOT be able to adopt or amend any fertilizer ordinances with blackout periods for the next fiscal year.
Weeki Wachee Springs Protection Zone
PASSED on July 19! Thank you! Weeki Wachee River is the first major spring run in Florida being considered for a spring protection zone (SPZ). Florida Springs Council joined the Florida Native Plant Society, Sierra Club FL and local residents to ask FWC to approve a strong SPZ to protect the Weeki Wachee River.
